1.The Edmonton River Valley
The River Valley is a beautiful natural wonder beloved by all Edmontonians. This HUGE valley accompanies the North Saskatchewan River as it runs through Edmonton. It’s home to hundreds of trails and plenty of parks. Any stretch of the valley would make for a beautiful, nature-centred photoshoot.
2. Photos by The Mountains
The mountains are another spectacular place for an outdoor wedding photoshoot in Alberta. Edmonton isn’t far from the legendary Rocky Mountains, and many wedding photographers in Edmonton are happy to make the trek with you for photos with this breathtaking natural wonder.
3. Downtown Rooftops
There are many open, flat rooftops in downtown Edmonton that make for a fun photoshoot overlooking the city. You’ll have the skyline in the background, and the sky itself will look amazing on a clear and sunny day.

This might sound boring, but it’s actually one of Edmonton’s most popular locations for wedding pictures. The architecture is old, traditional, and beautiful. There’s nothing quite like the gritty backdrop of downtown in your wedding photos. Especially at NIGHT. And especially when your wedding is a little different.

This one is perfect for adding a historic, old-timey feel to your photos. Some of the churches or other buildings on the property are often available to rent if you want to add some historic charm to the ceremony itself.

The High Level Bridge offers one of the world’s highest river crossings by streetcar. The site itself is incredible and makes for an equally incredible photo op. It’s even better at night when 60,000 LED bulbs are lighting it up.

While this will take some extra effort, it’s a phenomenal place to take winter wedding pictures in Alberta. There is an admission charge, and it’s a good idea to call ahead if you plan on shooting, but the hallways and crevices all made of ice will look magical.
13. The Citadel Theater
The Citadel Theater is all indoors and features a beautiful indoor garden and a waterfall wall. Daytime photos are best because all kinds of natural light comes in from their huge windows. Keep in mind that you will have to book your shoot in advance.
14. Devonian Botanic Garden
This one is great if you’ve got good weather. It’s almost entirely outdoors but it’s breathtaking in the summer with beautiful sections of running water and immaculate grounds. There are areas of beautiful, intricate foliage and even some spots that are designed specifically for weddings.
15. Fairmont Hotel Macdonald
This is another great addition if you’re after a more historical look. They have a selection of beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture and furniture along with perfectly manicured grounds. They are especially flexible with photoshoots if you’re already staying in one of their suites.

This place is notorious for its series of tall, glass pyramid structures that add a unique flair to the Edmonton skyline. Located right on the outskirts of the city is a spot affectionately nicknamed “the end of the world.” It got this name as it was previously quite dangerous – yet people would venture out there for a photo shoot anyway.
This unique photo opportunity results from an old retaining wall that used to sit over Keillor Road before it was destroyed. The vantage point offers a beautiful view of West Edmonton which is a lovely, romantic backdrop.
The spot used to be off-limits, technically, but the city has done some work in recent years to make it safer and more accessible for the public.
Pick a library, any library. This one has a gorgeous front entrance with cement steps that allow you to pose as a couple or to cascade your family and friends down the stairs for group photos.

Yep. I said it. The mall! But, come on, it’s not just ANY mall. With an amusement part, a skating rink, and tons of other amazing things packed inside you would be surprised at how many cool shots you can grab for a wedding or engagement shoot!
