Edmonton Boudoir Photography

So, you’re feeling EXCITED. You’ve booked your Edmonton boudoir photo shoot and can’t wait to feel EMPOWERED. But something makes you pause. What are you supposed to bring to your shoot? You don’t want to forget something, but you also don’t want to lug around a huge, heavy bag.

We’ve experienced enough photo shoots to know what items make the cut and what
items are worth leaving home. Here’s our list of accessories to bring and NOT TO BRING to your boudoir photo shoot!

  1. Makeup (big old NO)
  2. Jewelry & accessories (it depends)
  3. Sexy footwear (YES)
  4.  A friend (maybe not)
  5. Sensual lingerie (ALWAYS!)
  6. Stockings (sure!)
  7.  Sewing kit (could help)
  8. Something personal (maybe)
  9. A fake tan (please NO)
  10. An open mind (always welcome)

Did you know?

When you book in for a boudoir shoot with us we will send you prep guides to help you pick out the right themes, clothes, and more?

We work together with all our clients to build a personalized experience EVERY TIME.

1. Makeup is not something you need to bring

Makeup is on our list of what NOT to bring. At our Edmonton studio our talented hair and makeup artists have it all covered. Believe us, they have styled and enhanced the faces and hair of all of our clientele and given them the confidence to SHINE throughout their photo session.

If you are concerned about having a specific look, have your phone with you where you can pull up a few images for inspiration. You can also help our makeup artist by showing up with a clean face.

2. Jewelry & Accessories are OK within limits

Some call it BLING, some ICING, but whatever you want to call it, make sure it makes YOU sparkle.

You do NOT need jewelry for your shoot. In fact, images usually turn out better without it. LESS IS MORE.

If you absolutely feel you need it or just want to try it out, we suggest bringing something timeless versus something trendy, and what is more timeless than some DIAMONDS or PEARLS? Hello? Prince wrote a song about them!

3. SEXY FOOTWEAR WILL TAKE YOUR PHOTOS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Some women are into heels, some into knee-high boots. Whatever your fetish, having some SEXY footwear will go a long way toward making you feel confident.

Studies have shown that a woman in heels appear more influential and ALLURING.

So, we HIGHLY recommend a good set of heels.

That said, there’ll also be a lot of shots with NO shoes and we have some tricks of our own to elongate your calves 😉

4. SHOULD YOU BRING A FRIEND TO YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION?

We get it. Sometimes insecurities get the best of us, and in a hasty reaction, we ask a friend to come along for support. We strongly suggest that you leave your friends at home. We have worked with many women for many different boudoir photo sessions, and at all times, our priority is that of TRUST.

Our Edmonton studio is by women for women with an ALL-FEMALE team. We are there to guide you every step of the way and to make sure that your photo shoot makes you feel EMPOWERED.

HOWEVER, we have had women choose to book back to back mini or half-day boudoir sessions so that they can go through the experience together. If this is something you’re interested in, just let us know!

5. SENSUAL LINGERIE FOR EVERY BOUDOIR SHOOT

The studio DOES have an amazing client wardrobe with lingerie, dresses, accessories, and WINGS. But, we know that having your own sensual lingerie can help. You already know that you feel SEXY and CONFIDENT in it, and those feelings with SHOW in your images.

By bringing your own lingerie, you get to decide the type of boudoir photo shoot you want. Devious or angelic? Structured or laid-back? But don’t be afraid to bring more than one, that way you can mix and match if you aren’t sure yet of the look you want to convey.

6. STOCKINGS (OR PANTYHOSE) CAN BE A DEFINITE PLUS

Stockings elongate your legs but also add that something EXTRA to your look. They also feel super SEXY slowly gliding up from the tip of your toes to resting around your thigh. And if you aren’t sure whether you’d look better in fishnets, suspender belts, or lace, bring a bunch and let us help you decide.

Each one can have a different style, from playful and cheeky to vintage and glamour, maybe you want to try more than one look? What’s even better? They don’t take up a lot of space.

7. SEWING KIT

Murphey’s Law says that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. And what better way to ensure nothing will go wrong than to be prepared. Lingerie is delicate, stockings in particular. What would happen if you showed up to your boudoir shoot only to find a hole in your favourite outfit?

A sewing kit takes up minimal space and may just be the lifesaver you need in the event tragedy happens. And while we’re on the subject of holes, bring some clear nail polish with your kit. If there is a bit of a snag in one of your stockings, add a dab of clear nail polish to prevent it from getting any worse.

Bringing a special piece of clothing or jewelry to your boudoir shoot can give it that extra personal touch

8. SOMETHING PERSONAL CAN ADD A SPECIAL TOUCH TO YOUR SESSION

Bringing along something personal can help to add that special touch to your shoot, particularly if you plan to share your photos with your partner. In this case, you might like to bring one of his dress shirts to capture a few photos in, or maybe your partner wears a necklace you’d like to showcase for her?

These personal items make the shoot feel more INTIMATE, and when you wear them, you will think of your significant other and feel relaxed, comforted, and loved, which will come off BEAUTIFULLY on camera.

And certain props can really help your *ahem* steamier shoots.

9. A FAKE TAN IS NOT WELCOME AT A BOUDOIR SHOOT

Feeling a little nervous about how your skin will come across on camera? Trust us, we’d take non-sun-kissed skin over spray tanner any day. No matter how it looks on your body, on camera, it comes across as orange and cannot be removed.

But while we understand you want some sort of GLOW from the sun, tan lines can also look unflattering in a photo shoot. Cover up your skin ahead of time, wear your sunscreen, and instead, go for a shimmering body moisturizer. Check out some great shimmering body lotions here.

10. AN OPEN MIND MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE

Having an open mind is essential to having an AMAZING boudoir experience. Come in expecting that anything is possible, and that trust is key in this process, and we promise you, that you will LOVE the results.

Ultimately, we want you to bring self-confidence and leave self-doubt at home.
